Dr. Haigney is a highly trained Oral &  Maxillofacial and Facial Plastic Surgeon. He graduated from Loyola School of Dentistry in Chicago, and went on to complete a general practice residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.  He then completed his Oral and Maxillofacial surgical residency at the prestigious Emory University in Atlanta Georgia.  During residency, Dr Haigney received unsurpassed experience in facial trauma, reconstructive facial surgery, head & neck cancer, temporomandibular disorders and corrective jaw surgery, as well as specialized training in anesthesia, dental implants, sleep apnea, and wisdom tooth extraction.

After working in private practice for 5 years, Dr Haigney then returned to academics and completed a Fellowship in Facial Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS. and Emory University under the preceptorship of John Griffin, DMD, James B. Orr, M.D, and Ted Wojno, M.D.   He is credentialed in all areas of facial plastic and reconstructive surgical procedures at Charlotte’s main hospitals.

Dr. Haigney is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and a Diplomate of the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology.

Dr. Haigney has served as assistant adjunct clinical professor in the departments of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Emory University from 2009-2012 and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Nebraska from 1999-2002.

In 2012 Dr. Haigney was the recipient of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man of the Year.

He currently sits as one of the board of directors for the North Carolina Institute of Medicine.
